Bio
Patrick Lydon is a photographer and writer, currently on a learning and exploration experience, toting his camera and notebook around to some of the world’s largest and smallest cities.
With respect to the photogrpahic medium, he believes in the power of an image to effect positive change, and to promote, inform, and enlighten viewers across barriers of language and culture.
A Bit of History
Patrick is horrible at remembering historical dates and honestly finds far more relevance in relationships between events, rather than specific dates from the year zero.
Since he can remember, Patrick has been obsessed with learning, imagining, drawing, and creating, often with respect to the places we live and the social structure that shapes them. Sure, at age 5, the creation usually took the form of Legos, or Popsicle sticks in a dirt yard, but it seemed an early childhood obsession that never really faded away.
Moving up to the slightly more recent history, he has worked professionally since a teenager as a creative personality for many technology firms, both in Silicon Valley, and worldwide.
Today, in addition to his photogrpahic pursuits, Patrick writes and designs multiple types of learning materials for Silicon Valley technology companies, serves as the Art Director for 10ten Magazine in Japan, and is a content contributor to this and several other creative-based publications.
Education
Patrick currently holds a Bachelor’s degree in Art with a concentration in Graphic Design and minor in Photography from San Jose State University, and intends to continue formal education after his current “informal” traveling education. Though, he also believes that the informal type of education is equally as essential as the formal classroom stuff…
Random Fact #237
Two instruments, flute and guitar, have been in his life since he can remember (although on a good day he can likely remember a bit further back) and he nearly always totes around one of the two on his travels.
